Reviewer: Allison Martin The cd 28 Instant Songames provides a series of songs, activities and poems for young children which emphasize activities and movement along with concepts like friendship, self-esteem, and self-expression. The musicians and occupational therapists who put this tape together clearly enjoyed themselves. With a theme of 4 magical animals, children are lead through activities such as making faces to express feelings, acting out sounds, and Simon Says (renamed "Can You Do What I Do?"). The new age music (including guitar, drums, and vocals) and the natural sound effects alternate between gentle and stimulating. Songs include: "Names, Names, We All Have Names;" "I've Got a Sound Inside of Me;" and "Things I Do Well." These songs may be used by both parents and preschool teachers (or therapists) to encourage young children in imagination, motor activities and expressive, cooperative play. |
