Review by Allison Martin The best known song about adoption, and consequently one of the best known books, Happy Adoption Day is an exuberant poem celebrating adoption. Colorful and bold oils accompany the verse, which is catchy and bouncy. The illustrations show a couple traveling to adopt an Asian baby and then an adoption day party when he is older, with lots of dancing and cheering. The CD and book are best suited for younger children (babies, toddler age, preschool age). "Wherever

This cheerful song is also available on the CD (called "Family Garden"). You can hear "Happy Adoption Day" online at Amazon. You may find that parts of Happy Adoption Day are not applicable to your child. Opinions seem to be vary, but some people are bothered by concepts that appear less than complimentary about the adopted child's past. However, overall it is a cheerful book and song - one of a kind. |
