Reviewed by Cindy Davanzo "I just pulled out my copy of the book Parents At Last - Celebrating Adoption and the New Pathways to Parenthood by Cynthia Peck (who is the founder and publisher of 'Roots and Wings') and Wendy Wilkinson. For those of you who have not seen it, it's a beautiful book about people (famous and not) who have adopted or gotten pregnant by 'nontraditional' methods like IVF." Reviewed by Allison Martin Parents at Last is an intriguing and inspiring collection of stories of nontraditional families, who have come together through adoption, high-tech conception, stepparenting, and foster parenting. The wonderful photographs and thought provoking short stories of 32 couples and singles are displayed in four well developed sections: In the Beginning (new parents), The Wonder Years (experienced parents coping with issues of adoption and medically assisted pregnancy), In the Parenting Trenches (parents of older children coping with adolescence), and Pioneers Share Their Wisdom (parents of adult children). |
