Review by Allison Martin Rainbows from Heaven is the personal story of Lynn Doxon and her husband's adoption of three girls from a Ukranian orphange. Lynn was an experienced foster mother when she went on a mission trip to the Ukraine to work with other teachers there. In Ukraine she felt the call to adopt and began a journey that took two long years to reach fuition. This book provides a very detailed account of their adoption journey and the harrows of the paperwork, corruption, miscommunication, and misfortune which interferred with the coming together of their family. Through it all, they perserved with faith and prayer that this was meant to be. Lynn Doxon is an experienced writer and is shows in the depth and fullness of this book. She provides an intriguing glimpse into life in the Ukraine, and the circumstances of the Ukranian orphanage where her children were growing up. At times she takes the voice of her children, and presents a child's view of events; most time the narrative is her own. A series of color photos illustrate the many people and children in her story. Parents who are considering adoption from Eastern Europe will find her book to be of great interest. |
